The small village of Alexis Creek can be found approximately 113 km.
west of Williams Lake, on Highway # 20 in the heart of the Chilcotin.
It basks on a bench overlooking the milky blue waters of the Chilcotin
River and the extensive Alexis Creek Flats. The history of the little
village dates back to the early 1900’s when a young Irishman, Alex
Graham, moved his family down from the Graham Meadows above Alexis
Creek and began building the C-! Ranch. He is often called the founder
of Alexis creek, soon other pioneers came and settled here and an
active ranching community sprung up.

Fondly labeled by locals
as “God’s Country” the Chilcotin, (meaning “People of the Blue Waters”
in the native language), is famous for the scenic beauty of a country
side which abounds with beautiful lakes and rivers, mountains and
rolling hills, and wide open spaces. Alexis Creek is blessed with a
moderate climate in each of its four very well defined seasons.

Winter brings powdery snow
for great snowmobiling and X-country skiing, temperatures cold enough
to provide great skating at the local rink, and ice fishing on the
surrounding lakes. You can usually count on sunny days and a clear
blue sky most of the time, with many great photo opportunities.
Spring usually comes with a rush of creeks filling with melted snow
and our fair share of mud as the snow disappears. The sudden
appearance of newborn calves and budding cottonwood trees signals that
it is time to start thinking about planting gardens and mowing lawns.
Throughout spring, warm summers and fall, the area offers great
mountain biking trails, hiking and back packing, horse back riding and
pack trips, bird watching, canoeing, river rafting, camping, boating
and excellent fishing and hunting. Wildlife spotting is common at
anytime. Native history and culture abounds. Fall comes with a burst
of magnificent colour and a promise of “Indian Summer”, long warm days
and crisp, cool nights.
