Alexis Creek Revitalization Strategy

PURPOSE

The purpose of this strategy is ‘to make Alexis Creek a more vibrant, prosperous, and livable community’ which focuses on the primary economic drivers of tourism and ranching.

ALEXIS CREEK PAST AND PRESENT

Alexis Creek has experienced a dramatic decline in population in the last five years. Population has dropped from approximately 300 residents to about 110 residents. This drop in population has resulted in empty residences and businesses with un-kept premises making Alexis Creek aesthetically unattractive.

Also as a result of the declining population businesses have closed their doors, local events have disappeared, and clubs and organizations have ceased to operate.

At one time Alexis Creek enjoyed having such clubs as Brownies, Junior Forest Wardens, and a 4H Club. Alexis Creek was in the past home to a bakery, a hair dresser/barber, three gas stations, a bulk fuel depot, a dentist and a motel/café.

Government services at one time included the Provincial Court Service as well as the Conservation Officer Service both now long gone.
